ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Basketball team fell to Urbana University 76-74 Saturday afternoon in the McDonnell Center.
The teams played a back-and-forth game with 14 lead changes and nine ties. The Senators took a 33-28 lead into the break, and led most of the second half, including a lead with two minutes remaining in the game.
However, the Senators fell behind as Urbana hit a three pointer to take a 68-66 lead and opened it up to as much as six points before the Senators cut it down to one while fouling on trap attempts.
The Senators were led by
Wesley Sprinkle, who finished with 18 points in the game. He also had three rebounds and three assists.
Kevin Bracy-Davis and
Jordan McElveen also finished in double figures. Bracy-Davis had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
McElveen recorded 11 points and had five rebounds and three steals.
Kevin Simpson led the team with five assists.
The Senators will return to action on Friday with a non-conference game against West Virginia State. The game is set for a 2 p.m. start, after the finish of the Women's Basketball game against Salem International at 12 p.m.
