ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College Men's Soccer team fell to Alderson Broaddus 3-1 on Thursday night in the first semifinal game of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament at Nuttall Field.

The Senators grabbed a first half lead in the 23rd minute when
Benjamin Pastur scored after the goalkeeper knocked the ball onto the crossbar and back out for a rebound. Pastur tapped in the rebound for his fifth goal of the season.

Davis & Elkins took the lead into the half as
Hedi Mehnaoui finished the first 45 minutes with five saves.

The second half was a much different story for Davis & Elkins, as the visitors were able to net three goals for the victory.

Ten minutes into the second half, Daniel Yague scored from the top of the box to tie things up at 1.

The match remained tied into the final 10 minutes when Michael Gallardo scored to give the Battlers the lead in the 82nd minute.

Two minutes later, the Senators had a miscommunication as a header back to Mehnaoui was too strong and Gallardo tapped it in for the final goal of the game.

The Senators, the G-MAC Regular Season Champions, will now have to await the selection committee for an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II Championship Tournament.
