PHILIPPI, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College Volleyball team fell to Alderson Broaddus on Tuesday night 2-3 to open up G-MAC play.
The Senators took a 2-0 lead to open up the game, edging the hosts 28-26 in the first set before cruising to a 25-13 win in set two.
However, Alderson Broaddus came back to win set three 25-20 and then edged D&E in set four 25-22 to force a fifth and deciding set.
The Senators took an early lead and led as late as 9-8 in the fifth set, but the hosts were able to rally with three straight points to break a 10-10 tie and D&E was unable to recover.
Sasha Johnson led the Senators on the attacking front, recording eight kills on the way to a .438 attacking percentage for the night. Johnson also had six service aces and was a part of three blocks.
Devin Saucy also had a good night attacking, recording 11 kills at a .344 attacking percentage clip. Saucy was second for the Senators with five service aces in the game and also was second with 13 digs.
Elizabeth Estes led the way in kills, recording 16 in the match, but also had 10 attacking errors.
Kendall Jacobson led the Senators with 17 digs on the night.

Zoe Craig each recorded 10 digs. Craig also had 41 assists in the match.
The Senators will have a week off before traveling to Salem, W.Va. for a non-conference match against Salem International.
