In September 2024, Tycen Allan was added as the Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coach at Davis & Elkins College. His duties include on-field coaching, player development, academic monitoring and recruitment.
Prior to his current position, Tycen contributed with coaching experience at Elev8 Lacrosse, Calgary Field Lacrosse and the High River Heat Lacrosse Association. Tycen participated as both a player and coach for all of these organizations for many years.
In 2022 and 2023 Tycen worked with Elev8 Lacrosse as an Assistant Coach. His contributions included defensive skills, playbook implementation and on-field development. Elev8 Lacrosse is owned and managed by former professional lacrosse brothers Geoff and Bob Snider, who enjoyed a long history with box and field lacrosse in Canada and the U.S. Elev8 Lacrosse is regarded as the premier level of club travel lacrosse in Western Canada.
Although new to coaching, Tycen has a long resume as a player. Tycen enjoyed the benefit of playing minor box lacrosse in his hometown for the High River Heat from age 5 to age 17. There, he was able to be a part of 2 city-championship teams and one provincial championship team. Following that, Tycen played 3 years of Junior B-Tier 1 Box Lacrosse in Okotoks, Alberta, Canada for the Marauders. In Okotoks, Tycen was named as an alternate captain and captain in his 3 years and contributed his skills to multiple playoff runs.
Tycen began his field career later than most, playing for Calgary Field Lacrosse and Elev8 Lacrosse from 2014-2018 as a close defender. Tycen was a member of the Davis & Elkins College Men’s Lacrosse program from 2018-2022, where he was a 4-year starter on close defense and named as a captain his Junior and Senior years. Tycen graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and a double minor in Criminology and GIS.
