Trey Short, MS, LAT, ATC joined the Davis & Elkins College Athletics staff in July 2024 as a Compliance Coordinator and Athletic Trainer. He is a dedicated and accomplished professional with a Master of Science in Athletic Training from West Virginia Wesleyan College, where he graduated with a perfect 4.0 GPA in July 2020. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Marietta College, completed in May 2019.
Previously, Trey served as a Rehabilitation Technician and Athletic Trainer at Bridgeport Physical Therapy, where he managed the flow of patients in the rehabilitation area, assisted patients with daily exercises, and administered therapeutic modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and cryotherapy. He also provided athletic training coverage for various sporting events at The Bridge Sports Complex.
Prior to his time in Bridgeport, Trey worked as a Part-Time Athletic Trainer at Fairmont State University from August to April 2023, where he administered dry needling to college athletes, provided medical coverage at events and practices, and applied taping and bracing techniques.
From August 2022 to August 2023, Trey was an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Alderson Broaddus University. He provided daily coverage for multiple sports teams, managed eligibility records, organized game day setups, administered manual therapies, and developed rehabilitation programs. He also mentored students, orchestrated pre-season orientation meetings, documented medical records, coordinated with medical professionals, and implemented concussion Return to Play criteria.
Trey resides in Bridgeport and is married with one daughter.
