Davis and Elkins College Athletics

Jonathan Barrett joins the Davis & Elkins wrestling staff as an assistant coach for the program's inaugural campaign in 2019-20. He also works on campus as the director of campus activities and multicultural programs, and residence director of Gribble Hall. 

As the residence director of Gribble Hall, Barrett is responsible for the daily management of the hall, management of residential crisis situations and supervision of student resident assistants.

Barrett brings work experience in higher education and the human resources field. Most recently, he served as the assistant director of student activities at Wheeling University where he managed student clubs and organizations and facilitated various events. In addition, he worked as an assistant wrestling coach.

Barrett also is a first lieutenant human resources officer with the Virginia Army National Guard: 91^st Cyber Brigade in Fairfax, Virginia.

Barrett earned a Master of Business Administration in 2018 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in political and economic philosophy in 2016, both from Wheeling University. As a student, he was a member of the Cardinal’s varsity wrestling team, serving two years as captain, and was co-founder of the University’s Black Student Union. As a peer minister and resident minister, he received the Wheeling University Campus Ministry Unitas Et Fides Award.
