Jay Evans is in his third season as the Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach at Davis & Elkins College after taking over the role in August of 2017. Evans was also named Assistant to External Relations in January 2019, assisting in all facets of the Sports Information department.

In 2017-2018, Evans led both programs to the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament and recruited and coached the G-MAC Freshman of the Year Obert Matthew Mulyadi. In 2019, Evans coached the programs to a combined seven wins, and one second team All-GMAC selection.

Evans oversaw both the Men's and Women's Tennis programs being named ITA All-Academic programs in 2018-2019.

Evans also coached two all-conference first team recipients ont he women's side and a second team all-conference recipient on the men's side.

Evans comes to Elkins after a successful stint as the head coach at Lakewood High School in St. Petersburg, Florida. Evans led the Boys' Team to the 2A-10 District Championship in 2015. Evans also led the men's program to a school record 13 wins overall and a 13-3 record in 2017.

Prior to his time in St. Petersburg, Evans played four years at Piedmont College finishing with a 35-11 career singles record, including only one loss in GSAC Conference play. Evans helped Piedmont to a pair of GSAC Conference Championships.

Evans was a two-time GSAC All-Conference Selection and also garnered GSAC All-Freshman honors.

Following his collegiate playing career, Evans has played both professionally and semi-professionally, winning several Men's Open titles and being ranked as high as #5 in Florida Men's Open Doubles.

Evans also spent the Summer of 2018 as the Assistant Tennis Director at Camp Winadu in Pittsfield, Mass., and is a Guest Coach at the Sewanee Tiger Tennis Camp.

Evans graduated with a pair of Bachelor's Degrees in Mass Communication and History from Piedmont College in May 2014.

He currently resides in Elkins.
