Notable accomplishments include historic wins against four programs that Davis & Elkins College had never beaten before.
Prior to his current position, Frey served as the Head Varsity Lacrosse Coach at Porter Ridge High School in Indian Trail, N.C. from August 2022 to January 2024. During his tenure, he led the program to a 6-10 regular-season record, secured the school's second playoff appearance in history, and achieved historic victories against local rivals. His coaching prowess was further highlighted by the development of players who earned All-Conference recognitions.
In 2021, Frey worked with Team 91 Charlotte, where he focused on the on-field development of the 2028 team. His contributions included playbook design, strategic implementation, and extensive travel for tournaments across multiple states. Frey’s coaching career at the high school level began at Butler High School in Matthews, N.C. As a Defensive Coordinator from 2016-2019, Frey oversaw a top-3 defense in conference with the first four all conference nominations in the program’s history. In 2019, during a COVID-shortened season, he was transitioned to Head Coach, guiding the program through the 2020 lockdown and rebuilding the team to return to the field in 2021.
Prior to his coaching career, Frey spent 3 seasons as a radio color analyst for the Charlotte Hounds of Major League Lacrosse with ESPN/WFNZ Radio Charlotte.
A Goaltender as a player, Frey attended Mercyhurst University, majoring in Communication with a specialization in Broadcast and New Media.
