Davis and Elkins College Athletics

In February of 2025, Mark Payton was added as a Volunteer Assistant Lacrosse Coach at Davis & Elkins College.

Payton comes to Elkins with his most recent experience as a Volunteer Assistant with the Men’s Lacrosse program at American International College, where he specialized in game management, film, practice setup and tear down, and added recruiting responsibilities across the US and Canada. 

Prior to his time at AIC, Payton spent time as an assistant coach with the Piatelli Lacrosse Organization, a premier youth lacrosse development program in Massachusetts founded by New England Lacrosse Hall of Famer Jack Piatelli.  Coach Payton had multiple duties as an assistant coach with both the Field Lacrosse and Box Lacrosse programs under Piatelli.  During this time, he also featured as an instructor responsible for skill development of young athletes at the Marquette University Summer Men’s Lacrosse Camp.  

Payton’s Coaching Career began in 2022 as an intern with the Men’s Lacrosse Program at the College of the Holy Cross, with responsibilities including film breakdowns, practice setup, and player skill development.

Originally hailing from Barrington, Rhode Island, Payton attended Lasell University from 2018-2022, graduating with both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Sports Administration.
