Jelan Miller begins his first season as a volunteer assistant men's basketball coach for Davis & Elkins in 2020-21.
Bringing nearly a decade of basketball experience with him to Elkins, Miller most recently served as a progression trainer at a year-round basketball skills clinic from April 2018-2019. He spent one year as the director and head trainer at the Brotherhood Basketball Program in 2017 and was the associate head coach at Classical Magnet High School, his alma mater in Connecticut, from 2012-19.
At Classical Magnet, Miller worked with in-game rotation, defensive strategy, practice planning, scouting, preseason development, offseason condition and helping seniors in the areas of recruitment and searching for colleges. Miller has playing experience at Classical Magnet High School, where he was a team captain, before playing two years collegiately at NCAA DIII Suffolk from 2008-10. He capped his college playing career with two seasons at Lincoln Junior College in New England from 2010-12.
Bringing several volunteer, leadership and community involvement experiences to his role at D&E, Miller has worked at the Ray Allen and Jim Calhoun Basketball Camps for high-level high school prospects. Miller earned his bachelor's degree in human services with a concentration in sociology from Charter Oak State in December 2018 before obtaining his master's degree in coaching from Concordia University in May 2020.
