Daniel Harris

Daniel Harris is entering his second season as the head men’s basketball coach at Davis & Elkins College and his fourth overall with the program in 2025–26. He was officially named the 32nd head coach in program history on April 20, 2024.

In his first season at the helm in 2024–25, Harris laid a strong foundation for the future of the program. The Senators finished 12-18 overall and 7-13 in Mountain East Conference play, earning key wins over West Virginia State and Frostburg State. Harris guided the program to its fourth consecutive MEC Tournament appearance, where D&E earned a 63-61 first-round victory over ninth-seeded Wheeling. Under his leadership, Nic Silva was named to the All-MEC Second Team.

During the 2023–24 season, Harris helped lead D&E to a 15-14 overall record and a 10-10 MEC mark—securing the program’s first back-to-back winning seasons in 69 years. The Senators qualified for the MEC Tournament for the third straight year, marking a period of postseason consistency and growth.

In his second season with the program (2022–23), Harris played a pivotal role in D&E’s 19-11 campaign, which marked the program’s first winning season in 42 years and most victories since 1959. The Senators upset third-seeded Charleston in the MEC Tournament quarterfinals before falling to No. 2 Fairmont State in a tightly contested semifinal.

Before arriving in Elkins, Harris served as director of basketball operations at Lipscomb University for two seasons. In that role, he oversaw film exchange, managed student staff, evaluated recruiting prospects, and produced high-impact digital content for recruitment.

He also served as a graduate assistant at Jacksonville University, assisting with player development, academic support, and opponent scouting. Harris gained additional experience as a recruiting coordinator with Hoop Group in Reading, Pennsylvania, where he strengthened his reputation for talent identification and relationship building.

As a player, Harris began his collegiate career at Hillsborough Community College, where he was team captain, team MVP, and recipient of the Coach’s Award. He then transferred to Division I Quinnipiac University, where he started 50 games, shot over 40 percent from three-point range, and earned team MVP honors as a junior. He was a team captain as a senior and a nominee for the NABC Allstate Good Works Team. Harris was also active in student leadership, serving on Quinnipiac’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Harris holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Quinnipiac (2017) and a master’s degree in sports management from Jacksonville University (2019).
