Eligibility/Other Regulations from the NCAA
  • Among the updates in the most recent teleconference, the committee adopted emergency legislation to extend the recruiting dead period through at least May 31. The committee also adopted a resolution to allow schools to issue institutional athletics aid agreements beginning April 16. Also, the committee did not provide relief for winter sport student-athletes’ season of competition or provide an extension of eligibility because they completed their full regular season and conference championships.
    • A complete list of updated action items can be found by clicking here
  • The NCAA has allowed institutions to self-apply season-of-competition waivers for student-athletes whose 2019-20 spring season was canceled, provided all the following criteria are met:
    • (1) The student-athlete used a season of competition in a spring sport (not winter) during the 2019-20 academic year;
    • (2) The student-athlete was eligible for competition when he or she competed during the 2019-20 academic year; and
    • (3) The student-athlete’s season was ultimately canceled for reasons related to the COVID-19 outbreak.
  • The Mountain East Conference has suspended countable athletically related activities (CARA) until at least June 1. This includes: team practices, team weight lifting sessions, team film sessions and team conditioning sessions.
    • More information from the NCAA on countable athletically related activities: Click Here
  • The entire NCAA and all of its members are in a recruiting dead period.
    • Adopted emergency legislation to immediately implement a dead period in all sports through at least May 31. Institutional staff members are permitted to write or telephone a prospective student-athlete during a dead period, but cannot engage in in-person recruiting contact on or off campus.
  • Follow the NCAA on social media for updates:

Update on NCAA Statistics for Spring 2020 (as of April 8, 2020)
  • No statistical champions will be awarded, and no statistical plaques will be distributed.
  • No national statistical champions will be recognized in record books.
  • No averages, percentages and per-game single-season categories will be eligible for single-season records in 2020.
  • In the unlikely case a raw number statistic would be a single-season high, that will be recognized in NCAA records.
  • Any single-game accomplishments that would be NCAA records will be recognized in the records books as normal.
  • Any career records ending in 2020 that meet the established minimums will be noted in the records books as normal.
  • Individual statistics for 2020 will be counted toward any athlete’s career statistics (even if that means a student-athlete will have statistics for five – or in some rare cases – six seasons).
  • Coaching records will include any games played during the 2019-20 season and a year will be added to the number of years coached.
  • Any games played by a coach’s team in a season constitutes a year for the coach’s record.
