WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — The Davis & Elkins College women's soccer team picked up a 2-0 Mountain East Conference victory over West Liberty on Sunday at the West Family Complex.

The Senators (3-3-1, 2-3 MEC) and Hilltoppers (1-5-1, 1-4 MEC) played to a scoreless first half before D&E broke through just 53 seconds into the second half.

Taytum Walls put the Senators on the board at the 45:53 mark, scoring her first goal of the season to give D&E a 1-0 advantage.

D&E added an insurance goal in the 66th minute when Sophia Brown found the back of the net for her first goal of the season, extending the lead to 2-0.

The Senators controlled the offensive pressure throughout the match, finishing with nine shots, including eight on goal, and eight corner kicks. West Liberty recorded four shots with one on goal.

Gabriela Acevedo made one save while recording her first shutout of the season.

D&E returns to action Wednesday, Sept. 23, traveling to Portsmouth, Ohio, to face Shawnee State University. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
