Box Score 2 CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins softball dropped both games of a Mountain East Conference doubleheader at Charleston on Sunday, falling 8-0 in game one before an 11-0 loss in game two.
Game One: Charleston 8, Davis & Elkins 0 (5 innings)
Charleston used steady offense and a dominant outing in the circle to secure an 8-0 run-rule victory in the opener.
The Golden Eagles struck early with a two-run first inning and added a solo home run in the third to extend the lead. A four-run fourth inning broke the game open, highlighted by multiple extra-base hits, before Charleston added a final run in the fifth to end the game.
Davis & Elkins was limited to just one hit, coming from Lorena Ruiz-Rubio. The Senators struggled to generate offense against Charleston starter Addison Mass, who tossed a complete-game shutout with seven strikeouts.
Kendal Tellings took the loss in the circle, working 3.1 innings and allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits. Andrea Pannell and Saylor Kneeland also saw time in relief.
Game Two: Charleston 11, Davis & Elkins 0 (5 innings)
Charleston carried its momentum into game two, using a big third inning to complete the doubleheader sweep with an 11-0 win.
After scoring twice in the first inning, the Golden Eagles erupted for seven runs in the third, fueled by a grand slam and timely situational hitting. Charleston added two more runs in the fourth to cap the scoring.
The Senators recorded two hits in the contest, with Sammie Jarvis and Lorena Ruiz-Rubio each collecting one. Jarvis added a double for Davis & Elkins.
Kendal Tellings was charged with the loss after allowing two runs in 1.1 innings. Jarvis entered in relief and logged 2.2 innings in the circle.
