FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins women's tennis closed its spring season with a 6-1 loss to Fairmont State on Friday afternoon in Mountain East Conference play.
The Senators dropped all three doubles matches as Fairmont State opened a 1-0 lead. Liebe Oosthuizen and Erin Laubscher fell at No. 1 doubles, 6-1, while Lilly Wentzler and Fabienne Lahn were defeated 6-1 at No. 2. Maddie Frazier and Emiliana Golac also dropped a 6-1 decision at No. 3.
Davis & Elkins earned its lone point in singles play at No. 2, where Oosthuizen defeated H. Backx 7-5, 6-2.
At No. 1 singles, Lahn fell 6-4, 6-2 to M. Fonseca. Laubscher dropped a 6-3, 6-1 match at No. 4, Golac was defeated 6-4, 6-0 at No. 5, and Frazier fell 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6.
Wentzler retired at No. 3 singles after the first set.
Davis & Elkins finishes the spring season following the Mountain East Conference matchup.
