LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Davis & Elkins men's and women's track and field teams turned in a historic performance at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic, recording multiple school records, conference-leading marks, and 15 personal-best efforts against a highly competitive field.
Jordan Thomas highlighted the weekend with a school-record performance in the men's 10,000 meters, finishing in 30:08. His time currently leads the Mountain East Conference and ranks among the top four in the Atlantic Region.
Lauren Twyman added a record-breaking performance in the women's 1,500 meters, crossing in 4:30.75. The time is the fastest in both the MEC and Atlantic Region this season, and she finished as the second-highest Division II competitor in the invitational section.
Savanna Hardman also set a program record in the women's 5,000 meters with a time of 17:03.34, which ranks second in both the MEC and Atlantic Region.
Max Wildbore continued the strong showing in the men's 1,500 meters, winning his heat in 3:51.47. His mark ranks second in program history and currently sits third in both the MEC and Atlantic Region. Cooper Gibson (3:53.74, third in heat) and Slate Swiger (3:54.00) also delivered strong performances in the invitational section.
As a team, the Senators recorded 15 personal-best performances, including a stretch of 11 consecutive races on Saturday that resulted in personal-best times.
In the women's 800 meters, Tatum Walls placed fourth in her heat with a time of 2:22.65, while Quinn Hazelett finished in 2:26.37.
On the men's side of the 800 meters, Fletcher Van Heuven led the group with a time of 1:54.29, followed by Tommy Bildheiser (1:55.67) and Tristan Blatt (2:06.44).
Sierra Taylor competed in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase and finished in 11:56.70.
In the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, Konnor Allison placed 21st overall and fifth in his heat with a time of 9:27.50, while Paul Langkopf followed in 9:50.20.
In the unseeded women's 5,000 meters, Zoe Belshan placed 10th in 17:54.79, and Brooke Jacobs finished fifth in her heat with a time of 18:18.75.
The unseeded men's 5,000 meters saw Andrew Bown place sixth in 15:14.38, followed by Aiden Granger (15:29.18) and Nick Gallo (15:36.71).
In the invitational women's 1,500 meters, Twyman led the Senators with her record time of 4:30.75 (23rd overall), while Jeanne Pelissier placed fourth in her heat in 4:36.90.
The men's invitational 1,500 meters featured Wildbore's heat victory, along with Gibson (3:53.74) and Swiger (3:54.00).
In the invitational women's 5,000 meters, Hardman placed 33rd in 17:03.34, while Rebecca Tellez finished in 17:33.77.
Jack Waggy competed in the men's invitational 5,000 meters and recorded a time of 15:05.37.
On Sunday, Ian Wood competed in both hurdle events, placing 19th and fourth in his heat in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.29, and finishing the 400-meter hurdles in 59.66.
The meet featured a deep field of competition, including programs such as Penn State, Bucknell, Lehigh, Maryland, UMBC, Yale, Rochester, East Stroudsburg, West Chester, Kenyon, Indiana Wesleyan, NYU, Robert Morris, Buffalo, Carnegie Mellon, Pittsburgh, and others.
Davis & Elkins returns to action April 17–18 at the Virginia Challenge, hosted by the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia.
