D&E Women’s Lacrosse Rolls Past Wesleyan at Home

ELKINS, W. Va. — Davis & Elkins women's lacrosse scored early and often Wednesday night, defeating West Virginia Wesleyan 22-2 in Mountain East Conference play at Nuttall Field.

With the win, the Senators improve to 8-3 overall and 2-2 in Mountain East Conference play.

The Senators erupted for 12 goals in the opening quarter and never looked back, outshooting the Bobcats 41-10 and controlling possession throughout the contest.

Rylee Anderson and Talia Berardo led the offensive surge with five goals each. Berardo added two assists for a team-high seven points, while Anderson finished with five points on the night.

Savannah Quave recorded two goals and three assists, while Ke'ya Stevens added a hat trick. Morgan Rogers finished with two goals and two assists for the Senators.Zoe Mackey added two assists. 

Additional goals came from Izzie Sevila, Malia Galan, Taylor Mudd, Alexia Gonzales and Emmalyn Whyte.

Davis & Elkins set the tone quickly, as Sevila opened the scoring less than a minute into the contest on a free-position goal. Anderson followed with a pair of goals during a quick stretch midway through the quarter as the Senators built a commanding lead.

Quave, Berardo, Rogers and Gonzales each added goals during the opening period as Davis & Elkins raced out to a 12-0 advantage after the first quarter.

The Senators extended the lead in the second quarter with five more goals from Stevens, Berardo and Rogers to take a 17-2 lead into halftime.

Stevens added two more goals in the third quarter, while Berardo recorded her fifth of the night. Mudd and Whyte also found the back of the net to cap the Senators' scoring at 22.

Davis & Elkins controlled play across the field, finishing with 24 ground balls and winning 17 draw controls.

Defensively, Irelynd Manning recorded three ground balls and caused two turnovers, while Mackenzie Mullan added four ground balls, two caused turnovers and four draw controls.

In goal, Megan Bauer made two saves in the opening half before Daelyn Hardnack finished the game with three saves for the Senators.

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond the control of Davis & Elkins, the fourth quarter was not played.

Davis & Elkins returns to action Saturday, April 4, when the Senators travel to face the University of Charleston in Mountain East Conference play. Opening draw is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Charleston, West Virginia.
