ELKINS, W.Va. — The Davis & Elkins College women's golf team wrapped up play at the Sapona Intercollegiate on Tuesday at Sapona Country Club, finishing ninth overall in the two-day NCAA Division II event hosted by Montana State University Billings in Lexington, North Carolina.
Competing against a nine-team field, the Senators posted rounds of 340 and 322 to finish at +303 for the tournament. West Chester University claimed the team title at +60, followed by Montana State Billings (A) at +67 and Montana State Billings (B) at +71.
Marina Saviceva-Noti led Davis & Elkins with a two-round total of 170 (+26). After opening with an 88 in round one, she improved by six strokes in the second round, carding an 82 to pace the Senators.
Grace Bronkella finished at 201 (+57), while Laikyn Stevens posted a 249 (+105). Alexis Herndon rounded out the lineup with a 259 (+115) over the 36-hole event.
As a team, the Senators improved by 18 strokes from round one to round two, closing the tournament with their lowest round of the week.
Davis & Elkins returns to action March 24-25 at the Bobcat Spring Open, hosted by West Virginia Wesleyan College at Stonewall Resort in Buckhannon, West Virginia.
