Box Score ANDERSON, S.C. — Davis & Elkins College jumped out to an early lead and showed strong offensive production at the plate before falling to Anderson University, 19-5, on Sunday afternoon.
The Senators opened the scoring in the first inning on a solo home run by Carsan Strolla and added another run in the second on Aiden Morey's solo shot to left field. Strolla later connected for a two-run homer in the fifth inning, finishing the day 3-for-3 with three RBIs.
Zach Calef-Boring paced D&E offensively, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored, while Grant Mealey contributed an RBI double and a sacrifice fly.
Anderson responded with a six-run second inning to take the lead and extended its advantage with five runs in the fifth and seven more in the sixth. The Trojans collected 14 hits and capitalized on four D&E errors.
Matthew Denton and Brandon Harrison led Anderson with home runs, while Denton drove in four runs and Harrison added three RBIs.
Kenny Capria (0-1) took the loss for the Senators, allowing seven runs in 2.2 innings. Collin Schneider, Andy Bailer, Bronson Ferencak, Jack Murphy, and Bryce Hines also provided relief appearances.
Carter Costa earned the win for Anderson, working four innings and allowing two runs. Caleb Davis picked up the save.
Davis & Elkins will return to action Friday, Feb. 13, at 1:00 p.m. against Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro, Ky.
