D&E Baseball Opens Season with Road Doubleheader

ANDERSON, S.C. — The Davis & Elkins College baseball team opened its 2026 season Saturday with a doubleheader at Anderson University, falling 30-6 in Game 1 and 10-3 in Game 2 at Memorial Stadium.

Game One
In the opener, the Senators showed early fight, scoring three runs in the third inning and adding late runs in the seventh and ninth. Kenny Capria led D&E at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored, while Zach Calef-Boring added two hits and Mason Brenneman drove in three runs.

Davis & Elkins cut into Anderson's early lead in the third inning when Brenneman delivered a two-run single, followed by an RBI single from Yaziel Rolon. Joel Wise and Brenneman later added sacrifice flies, and Wise drove in another run with an RBI double in the ninth.

Cooper Blackburn took the loss on the mound for the Senators, while Nate Silvus provided a bright spot in relief, striking out four over two scoreless innings.

Game Two
D&E jumped out to an early advantage, scoring twice in the first inning. Wise brought home Kenny Capria with a sacrifice fly, and Grant Mealey followed with an RBI single to give the Senators a 2-0 lead.

Capria continued his strong day at the plate, finishing 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Mealey went a perfect 3-for-3 with an RBI, while Wise drove in two runs.

The Senators added another run in the fifth inning on Wise's RBI single before Anderson pulled away with a four-run frame.

Diego Reyes took the loss for D&E in game two, with Cade Walters, Dallas Rasmussen, and Kyle Ball providing relief appearances.

Through the opening doubleheader, Capria led the Senators with five hits and four runs scored, while Wise drove in four runs across both games.

Davis & Elkins will continue its season-opening series at Anderson on Sunday, Feb. 8, with first pitch scheduled for 12 p.m. in Anderson, S.C.
