WEST LIBERTY, W. Va. — No. 8 West Liberty defeated Davis & Elkins 111-74 in Mountain East Conference men's basketball action Wednesday night at the ASRC.

The Hilltoppers jumped out to an early advantage and never trailed, taking a 45-29 lead into halftime before pulling away in the second half. West Liberty shot 51.1 percent from the field and forced 25 turnovers in the contest.

Davis & Elkins was led by Vegas Evans, who finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Darrius Roach added 12 points off the bench, while Nnadozie Okoroji and AJ Headley each scored nine points.

The Senators shot 46.7 percent from the field and were efficient in the second half, connecting on 56.7 percent of their attempts after intermission. D&E also scored 40 points in the paint and received 36 points from its bench.

West Liberty placed seven players in double figures, led by Hayden Abdullah with 17 points. Max Hurray and Jamie Muldowney each added 15 points, while Myles Montgomery chipped in 13. The Hilltoppers outscored D&E 66-45 in the second half and held a 66-36 edge in bench points.

The Senators stayed within single digits midway through the first half before West Liberty closed the period on a run to build an 18-point cushion at the break. The Hilltoppers extended the margin early in the second half and maintained control the rest of the way.

Davis & Elkins will return home to face Wheeling University on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 4 p.m. at the McDonnell Center.
