Box Score FROSTBURG, Md. — Davis & Elkins College dropped a 82-66 decision to Frostburg State University on Wednesday evening in Mountain East Conference play at Bobcat Arena.
The Senators trailed from the opening minutes as Frostburg State opened the game on a 6-0 run and shot 64.3 percent from the field in the first quarter. The Bobcats led 24-16 after one and maintained control the rest of the way.
Kylie Morris paced Davis & Elkins with 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting, adding two rebounds and a block. Kaitlyn Parker finished with 13 points, knocking down four 3-pointers, while Deylana Forrest added 11 points and eight rebounds. Addison Boram contributed 10 points.
The Senators cut the deficit to three early in the third quarter after a Briyana Sapp jumper and a Parker 3-pointer made it 40-37. However, Frostburg State responded with a 10-2 surge to push the lead back to double digits and extended the advantage to 61-52 by the end of the third.
Frostburg State shot 53.3 percent (32-of-60) from the floor and held a 44-35 rebounding advantage, including 46 points in the paint. Jenna Muha led all scorers with 22 points on 9-of-10 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds, while Julie Spinelli added 21 points and 10 boards.
Davis & Elkins shot 34.7 percent (25-of-72) from the field and 31.8 percent (7-of-22) from beyond the arc. The Senators forced 12 turnovers and scored 10 fast-break points but were unable to overcome Frostburg State's efficiency inside.
Davis & Elkins returns home Saturday for its final regular-season contest, hosting West Virginia Wesleyan College for Code Red/Senior Day. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. at the McDonnell Center in Elkins.
