Box Score GLENVILLE, W. Va. — The Davis & Elkins College women's basketball team fell on the road Wednesday evening, dropping a 99-57 Mountain East Conference decision to Glenville State at the Waco Center.
The Pioneers jumped out to an early lead, outscoring the Senators 27-13 in the first quarter and 27-11 in the second to take a 54-24 advantage into halftime. Glenville State maintained control in the second half, extending its lead in each of the final two periods.
Briyana Sapp led Davis & Elkins with 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting while adding six rebounds. Kaitlyn Parker pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds and added eight points, and Addison Boram finished with eight points and seven boards. Jatia Markes contributed seven points off the bench.
Davis & Elkins shot 33.3 percent from the field and went 4-for-20 from three-point range. The Senators collected 41 rebounds and scored 16 points off the bench.
Glenville State was paced by Nwando Okigbo and Payton James, who each scored 15 points. The Pioneers shot 45.3 percent from the field and forced 40 turnovers, converting them into 56 points.
The Senators return home on Saturday, Feb. 14, to face Concord University in Mountain East Conference play. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the McDonnell Center in Elkins, West Virginia.
