Box Score ELKINS, W.Va. — The Davis & Elkins College women's soccer team battled back for a 2-2 draw against the University of Charleston on Wednesday at Welch Athletic Complex.
The Senators (3-5-2, 2-5-1 Mountain East Conference) took a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute when Vivian Kerr found the back of the net off an assist from Ava Sherman.
Charleston (3-4-3, 3-2-3 MEC) answered early in the second half, with Li-Lou Debaecker scoring in the 54th minute to even the match.
The Golden Eagles took their first lead in the 74th minute when Sydney Crowe scored off an assist from Abigail Harrison.
Davis & Elkins continued to pressure the Charleston defense and found the equalizer in the 84th minute. Rafaela Leão scored her second goal of the season off an assist from Kristia Kouppi to make it 2-2.
The Senators finished with eight shots, including seven on goal, while Charleston recorded 10 shots and seven shots on goal. Both teams made five saves.
Gabriela Acevedo played all 90 minutes in goal for D&E and made five saves.
Leão led the Senators with three shots and two shots on goal. Kerr added a pair of shots, including her goal.
The draw moves D&E to 3-5-2 overall and 2-5-1 in MEC play.
