Box Score ELKINS, W. Va. — Davis & Elkins kept the game close but fell 91-86 to Glenville State in a Mountain East Conference men's basketball contest Wednesday evening at the McDonnell Center.
The Senators led at times in the first half and carried a slim advantage into the opening minutes of the second, but Glenville State pulled away late, scoring 10 points in the final two minutes to secure the win. The Pioneers finished with 38 rebounds and 19 made free throws.
Tristan Starks led D&E with 21 points, including seven three-pointers, while Matthew Gray added 15 points and six rebounds. Vegas Evans contributed 13 points, five rebounds and three assists. Nnadozie Okoroji and Noah Adamczyk each scored 12 points, with Adamczyk adding four assists. Malachi Hampton chipped in eight points and grabbed eight rebounds, and the Senators totaled 16 fast-break points.
Davis & Elkins shot 44.6 percent from the field and 42.5 percent from three-point range, keeping the contest close despite Glenville State's late surge. The Pioneers were led by Don Colon-Lewis, who scored 22 points, and Jalen Knott, who added 21.
The Senators return to action on Saturday, Jan. 10, when they travel to Concord University in Athens, W. Va., for a 4 p.m. tipoff.
