SALEM, W. Va. — Davis & Elkins women's basketball struggled on the road Saturday, falling 72-40 to Salem University at T. Edward Davis Gymnasium.

The Tigers jumped out to an early lead and maintained control throughout the contest, shooting 40.9 percent from the field for the game. Davis & Elkins managed just 23.4 percent from the floor and 20 percent from three-point range.

Jahniya Marion led the Senators with 14 points, adding four rebounds and an assist in 33 minutes of action. Kylie Morris finished with nine points and 10 rebounds, while Madison Mims chipped in eight points and five rebounds. Briyana Sapp added two points, and Jalia Garner contributed three points off the bench.

Davis & Elkins went 16-of-21 from the free-throw line and recorded nine assists and 32 turnovers in the contest. The Senators also forced eight turnovers and scored eight points off those miscues.

Salem was led by Kamarice Jackson, who scored a game-high 20 points, while Selena Frost added 15 points and Meilin Guo chipped in 13 points.

Davis & Elkins returns home Monday, Feb. 2, to make up a postponed game against Point Park University at the McDonnell Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
