Box Score BUCKHANNON, W. Va. — Davis & Elkins men's basketball picked up a key Mountain East Conference road win Saturday afternoon, defeating West Virginia Wesleyan 91-83 at the Rockefeller Center.
The Senators (7-11, 4-7 MEC) used a strong second half to pull away in a tightly contested matchup that featured seven ties and 14 lead changes. D&E shot 51.9 percent from the field after halftime and scored 51 second-half points to secure the victory.
Noah Adamczyk and Matthew Gray led the Senators with 20 points apiece. Adamczyk finished 7-of-11 from the field and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line, while Gray knocked down three triples and added four rebounds and four assists.
Vegas Evans posted a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds, while Malachi Hampton contributed nine points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Darrius Roach added nine points off the bench, including a key three-pointer midway through the second half, and Dontrell Jenkins chipped in eight points.
Davis & Elkins capitalized in transition, scoring 30 fast-break points, and outscored Wesleyan 32-35 off the bench. The Senators also converted 26 free throws in the contest, including several down the stretch to seal the win.
West Virginia Wesleyan was led by Jerell Jean-Baptiste, who scored a game-high 22 points. Curtis Litton added 15 points and nine rebounds for the Bobcats.
Davis & Elkins returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 28, hosting Point Park University at the McDonnell Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
