Box Score FAIRMONT, W. Va. — Davis & Elkins battled throughout four quarters but fell to Fairmont State, 82-61, in Mountain East Conference women's basketball action Wednesday evening at Joe Retton Arena.
The Senators were led by a strong offensive night from Jahniya Marion and Kylie Morris, who each scored 17 points. Marion added seven rebounds and three assists, while Morris shot an efficient 6-for-9 from the floor and went a perfect 5-for-5 at the free throw line.
After Fairmont State built a halftime lead, Davis & Elkins continued to compete, shooting 57.1 percent from the field in the fourth quarter. Deylana Forrest contributed eight points and six rebounds, while Briyana Sapp added seven points and five rebounds as the Senators worked to close the gap late.
Davis & Elkins finished the night with 36 rebounds and moved the ball for five assists, with multiple players contributing on both ends of the floor.
Haylen Cook scored 23 points to lead Fairmont State, while Gabby Reep added 16 points for the Falcons.
The Senators return to action on Saturday, Jan. 24, traveling to West Virginia Wesleyan for a 2 p.m. Mountain East Conference matchup in Buckhannon, W. Va.
