Box Score ELKINS, W. Va. — Charleston (W.Va.) used a strong first half to pull away and earned a 73-55 Mountain East Conference women's basketball victory over Davis & Elkins on Saturday afternoon at the McDonnell Center.
The Golden Eagles opened the game with a 25-16 lead after the first quarter and extended the margin to 42-21 at halftime. Davis & Elkins responded with an improved offensive effort in the second half but was unable to overcome the early deficit.
Kaitlyn Parker led the Senators with 19 points, shooting 8-of-13 from the field and knocking down three 3-pointers. Kylie Morris added 15 points and four rebounds, while Briyana Sapp finished with three points and four rebounds.
Charleston was led by Bridget Womber, who posted a double-double with 17 points and 16 rebounds. Harper Annarino chipped in 10 points, and Paris Stokes added eight points as the Golden Eagles shot 44.8 percent from the field.
Davis & Elkins shot 37.9 percent overall and was led by its defensive effort in the second half, outscoring Charleston 34-31 after the break.
The Senators return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 21, when they travel to Fairmont State for a 5:30 p.m. Mountain East Conference contest in Fairmont, W. Va.
