Box Score ELKINS, W. Va. — Charleston (W.Va.) outlasted Davis & Elkins, 90-86, in a tightly contested Mountain East Conference men's basketball game Saturday afternoon at the McDonnell Center.
The Senators led 42-41 at halftime and traded the lead with Charleston throughout the second half, with the contest featuring 13 ties and six lead changes. Charleston pulled ahead late at the free-throw line to secure the four-point road win.
Vegas Evans led Davis & Elkins with 15 points, adding six rebounds and converting 7-of-7 from the free-throw line. Matthew Gray followed with 14 points, while Noah Adamczyk scored 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Dontrell Jenkins also reached double figures with 12 points, and Nnadozie Okoroji added 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Davis & Elkins shot 47.1 percent from the field and went 30-of-36 at the foul line, including a strong 20-of-22 performance in the second half. The Senators held a 31-25 rebounding advantage and finished with 17 fast-break points.
Charleston was led by Thomas Hailey's game-high 22 points and eight rebounds. Trevor Barrett scored 14 points off the bench, while Kaden Davis added 13. Charleston shot 52.5 percent from the field and outscored D&E 49-44 in the second half.
Davis & Elkins returns to action Wednesday, Jan. 21, traveling to Fairmont State for a 7:30 p.m. Mountain East Conference matchup in Fairmont, W. Va.
