Box Score ATHENS, W. Va. — Concord pulled away early and held off Davis & Elkins, 85-64, Saturday in a Mountain East Conference women's basketball matchup at Athens, W.Va.
For the Senators, Kylie Morris paced the offense with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting and pulled down eight rebounds. Jahniya Marion added 15 points and four free throws, while Kaitlyn Parker hit two 3-pointers en route to eight points. Davis & Elkins totaled 36 rebounds, with 32 points in the paint and 16 points from the bench. Madison Mims contributed seven points, and Deylana Forrest added five points with four rebounds.
Davis & Elkins shot 36.5% from the field (23-of-63), including 27.8% from three-point range (5-of-18), and converted 72.2% of their free throws (13-of-18). The team scored nine points off turnovers, eight on fast breaks, and six second-chance points but could not overcome Concord's early advantage.
Concord jumped on an 11-0 run to open the game and maintained control throughout. Kenyah Stubbs led the Pioneers with 22 points, scoring efficiently in the paint and hitting key free throws, while Kennedy Scales added 16 points, including two 3-pointers and four assists.
The Senators return to Mountain East Conference action on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at 5:30 p.m., traveling to West Virginia State University in Institute, W.Va.
