ELKINS, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College women's cross country team will begin its 2025 season at the top of the Atlantic Region. The Senators were ranked No. 1 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II Women's Cross Country Regional Rankings – Preseason edition, released Tuesday.

D&E returns its full top seven runners from last year's regional championship squad, which captured the Atlantic Region title and advanced to the NCAA Division II Championships. The Senators enter 2025 as the defending regional champions and were also ranked No. 28 nationally in the USTFCCCA preseason coaches' poll.

On the men's side, Davis & Elkins was ranked No. 3 in the Atlantic Region preseason rankings. The Senators join Charleston (W.Va.) and Shippensburg as the projected automatic qualifiers.

In addition to the regional recognition, both programs appeared in the FloTrack Preseason National Rankings presented by HOKA. The D&E women were slotted No. 16 nationally, while the men were ranked No. 30.

The Senators will open their season at the Robert Morris University Colonial Invitational on Friday, Sept. 12.
