Box Score ELKINS, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins women's soccer earned a point Sunday, playing Glenville State to a 1-1 draw at Nuttall Field in Mountain East Conference action.
The Senators (0-4-3, 0-3-2 MEC) wasted little time finding the back of the net. In the 11th minute, Valeria Gabrie scored her first goal of the season, finishing off a setup from Sophia Brown to give D&E an early 1-0 lead.
The Pioneers (1-5-1, 1-3-1 MEC) responded in the 24th minute, as Solares Solano tallied the equalizer to make it 1-1. Neither team would break through the rest of the way despite a physical contest that featured 26 combined fouls and two yellow cards.
Davis & Elkins finished with a 7-6 edge in shots, including a 4-1 margin in shots on goal, and held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks. Manuella Silva Cogliatti, Frederique Morin, Addyson Cogar, and Gabrie each recorded shots on goal for the Senators.
Goalkeeper Gabriela Acevedo played the full 90 minutes in net for D&E.
The Senators return to action Wednesday, Oct. 1, hosting Mountain East Conference opponent Point Park. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at Nuttall Field.
