BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins College swimming and diving opened its 2025–26 campaign in dominant fashion Saturday, winning nine of 18 events and securing the overall team title at the Relay at the Bridge, hosted at The Bridge Sports Complex.
The Senators tallied 258 combined points to outpace Salem University (234) and Fairmont State (166). D&E also earned the women's team championship with 136 points, while the men placed second with 122.
On the men's side, the Senators captured victories in the 300-yard backstroke relay (Leonardo Oshiro, Payton Williamson, Jan Spehar), 300-yard butterfly relay (Gustavo Queiroz, Williamson, Tommaso Tofani), 300-yard breaststroke relay (Charlie Whitsed, Lasse Schrieken, Oshiro), 800-yard freestyle relay (Spehar, Williamson, Leonardo Vallerini, Schrieken) and the 400-yard medley relay (Oshiro, Tofani, Schrieken, Whitsed).
For the women, D&E took home wins in the 300-yard butterfly relay (Lauren Lockwood, Maximillia Sutherland, Julianne Hobson), and 300-yard backstroke relay (Daphne McCann, Savannah Foley, Lockwood).
Depth across the lineup sealed the team crown, as the Senators also posted runner-up finishes in both the men's and women's 400-yard freestyle relays to close the meet.
Davis & Elkins will return to action Saturday, Oct. 4, competing in the West Virginia State Games at the West Virginia University Invitational in Morgantown.
