ELKINS, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins women's soccer turned in a gritty defensive performance Sunday evening at Nuttall Field, earning a 0-0 draw against Concord in Mountain East Conference play.

Goalkeeper Gabriela Acevedo anchored the Senators' effort, recording nine saves in the shutout. Several of her stops came late in the second half, including a pair of diving efforts that kept Concord off the board despite being down a player.

Junior defender Ava Sherman also stood out, playing through injury and helping steady the back line against a Concord attack that generated 19 shots. Her toughness and positioning were key in limiting quality scoring chances.

Despite being outshot 19-7, the Senators held strong defensively and earned their second draw of the season.

Davis & Elkins (0-3-2, 0-2-1 MEC) returns to action Wednesday, Sept. 24, traveling to Institute, West Virginia, for a 6 p.m. MEC matchup against West Virginia State.
