Box Score WISE, Va. – The Davis & Elkins volleyball team wrapped up competition at the UVA Wise Cavalier Classic on Saturday, showing flashes of improvement in a three-set battle against King (25-13, 25-13, 25-18) inside the David J. Prior Convocation Center.
The Senators found their rhythm in the third set, nearly matching King point for point while putting down 10 kills and limiting errors to stay within striking distance. Christine Rangel led the attack with five kills on an efficient .385 hitting percentage, while Saige Abbott chipped in five kills of her own and added six digs. Kaylee Vanjo delivered three kills, two service aces and provided a steady presence on the outside.
Defensively, D&E turned in a scrappy effort, recording 49 digs as a team. Freshman libero Neve Norris collected a team-high 13 digs, while Maddie Edicola and Moore each tallied five or more to keep rallies alive. Setter Emily Besten distributed six assists and added three digs, while Keira Robinson came off the bench to spark the offense with timely sets that led to a pair of Rangel kills late in the match.
