CLINTON, Pa. — The Davis & Elkins College men's and women's cross country teams opened their 2025 seasons with strong showings at the Robert Morris Colonial Invitational on Friday afternoon, competing against a field that included Carnegie Mellon, Walsh, Duquesne, West Virginia, Robert Morris, Point Park, West Virginia Wesleyan, Fairmont State, Mott Community College and Lake Erie.
The Senators, last year's Mountain East Conference champions, picked up where they left off with a pair of top-three team finishes to start the season.
On the men's side, Davis & Elkins finished second overall with 50 points, trailing only Carnegie Mellon and placing ahead of Division I programs Duquesne, West Virginia and host Robert Morris. Senior Jordan Thomas led the way with a runner-up finish in 24:30.6. Fellow senior Christopher Lucas placed ninth in 24:43.4, while junior Slate Swiger (11th, 24:49.1), sophomore Tristan Blatt (13th, 24:51.6) and senior Konnor Allison (15th, 24:56.3) all landed inside the top 15 to secure the runner-up team result.
The women's team finished third with 104 points, trailing only Carnegie Mellon and Walsh while outpacing Division I foes Duquesne, West Virginia and Robert Morris. Junior Lauren Twyman paced the Senators with a 10th-place finish, crossing the line in 21:33.4. Senior Savanna Hardman followed in 15th at 21:51.3, with freshman Jeanne Pelissier (24th, 22:13.5), junior Rebecca Tellez (28th, 22:23.4) and junior Brooke Jacobs (38th, 22:36.0) rounding out the scoring five.
