ELKINS, W.Va. — The Davis & Elkins women's golf team was selected fourth in the Mountain East Conference's 2025 preseason poll, released Friday by the league office.
Defending champion Glenville State earned the top spot with 54 points and five first-place votes, followed by Charleston (51 points, two first-place votes) and Fairmont State (44 points, one first-place vote). Davis & Elkins came in fourth with 34 points.
The Senators are coming off a fifth-place finish at last year's MEC Championships and return a veteran core in Grace Bronkella, Alexis Herndon, and Marina Saviceva-Noti. The trio will help anchor a roster blending experience and new talent under first-year head coach Shane Levenson.
Levenson said his focus remains on preparation and consistency rather than preseason predictions.
"To be honest, polls don't mean anything to me," Levenson said. "Unless there's some bonus that I am unaware of, polls are just for outsiders to talk about. I don't choose to get wrapped up in speculation. At the end of the day, our teams still need to compete and perform in the classroom and on the course. No matter what others say, it's still going to be about the effort, skill, and determination that our players bring each and every day. If we do that, the rest will take care of itself."
