WHEELING, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins College closed out its 2025 women's lacrosse season on Sunday afternoon, falling to Wheeling University 11-8 at Bishop Schmitt Field in the MEC tournament play-in game.
Ari Hinton and Rylee Anderson each scored twice to pace the Senators (7-12, 2-6 MEC). Izzie Sevila, Emelia Johnson and Ke'ya Stevens also found the back of the net, while Josephine Whorton and Kelsey Corcoran each tallied assists.
D&E opened the game strong with a pair of early goals, but Wheeling (7-7, 4-4 MEC) responded with a surge late in the first quarter and maintained the advantage the rest of the way.
Goalkeeper Megan Bauer kept the Senators close with a standout performance, recording 22 saves against 49 shots faced.
The Senators outscored Wheeling 3-2 in the fourth quarter but could not erase the deficit. The loss marks the conclusion of the 2025 campaign for Davis & Elkins.
