KENT, Ohio — The Davis & Elkins College women's basketball team fell to NCAA Division I Kent State, 117-37, Monday morning at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center.
Kent State opened the game with a strong first quarter and continued to build momentum throughout the contest, shooting efficiently from the field while forcing turnovers that led to transition opportunities. The Golden Flashes held a 30-10 advantage after one quarter and extended the lead at halftime.
Jahniya Marion led Davis & Elkins with 16 points, adding two rebounds and a steal. Madison Mims finished with eight points, while Deylana Forrest, Addison Boram and Koi Shabazz each chipped in two points. Shabazz also led the Senators on the glass with three rebounds.
Kent State shot 59.7 percent from the floor and totaled 33 assists on 46 made field goals. The Golden Flashes were led by Mya Babbitt with 19 points, while Rylee Kalocay added 16 points and six rebounds.
Davis & Elkins will return to Mountain East Conference play on Wednesday, Dec. 17, when the Senators travel to Wheeling University for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off in Wheeling, W. Va.
