Box Score ELKINS, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins earned its first win of the season Wednesday night, pulling away from Salem for a 73–60 victory at the McDonnell Center.
The Senators used a strong second quarter and a 24-point third frame to build a double-digit lead they never surrendered. D&E forced 24 turnovers and turned those mistakes into 15 points while getting 39 points from its bench.
Kalese Salter led the Senators with 12 points, six assists and three rebounds, knocking down a pair of 3-pointers. Jatia Markes added 11 points, going 9-for-10 at the foul line. Briyanna Sapp, Nadia President and Kylie Morris each finished with nine points, while Kaitlyn Parker chipped in eight with two 3-pointers. Koi Shabazz added seven rebounds to help D&E win the battle on the glass, 39–38.
D&E moved in front at halftime with a 19–8 second quarter, then stretched the lead in the third behind timely shooting and defensive pressure. Salem's Meilin Guo scored a game-high 16 points, but the Tigers shot just 35 percent from the field.
The win also marked D&E's first home victory of the season.
The Senators return to action Thursday, Dec. 11, traveling to Marshall University for a 6 p.m. tipoff in Huntington, W.Va.
