D&E Falls to WVSU in Friday Night MEC Action

ELKINS, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins fell to West Virginia State in straight sets (9-25, 18-25, 6-25) Friday evening inside the McDonnell Center.

Kelsea Moore and Kaylee Vanjo each tallied five kills to lead the Senators, while Christine Rangel added four kills, two service aces, and two digs. Setter Emily Besten recorded 13 assists and four digs, and Neve Norris paced the defense with 11 digs.

The Senators (0-24, 0-14 MEC) put together their best run in the second set, posting 10 kills and two blocks while pushing the Yellow Jackets to several long rallies.

Alyssa Hill led West Virginia State (14-11, 8-5 MEC) with 12 kills, and Carmen Perez chipped in seven kills and four service aces.

Davis & Elkins will close out its regular season on Tuesday, Nov. 11, with a road match at Concord University. First serve is set for 7 p.m. in Athens, W.Va.
