Box Score TAMPA, Fla. — Davis & Elkins dropped its opening game of the Tampa Thanksgiving Classic on Friday, falling 89–39 to host Tampa at the Bob Martinez Athletics Center.
The Senators (0–5) hit nine 3-pointers in the matchup, with Kaitlyn Parker leading the way with 10 points, including two early threes that helped D&E stay close in the first quarter. Jahniya Marion added seven points and a team-high five assists, while Madison Mims finished with five points, four assists and two steals off the bench.
Deylana Forrest chipped in six points on a pair of 3-pointers, and Jalia Garner and Kalese Salter each knocked down a three. D&E finished with 13 assists and seven steals.
Tampa (4–4) controlled the glass and used a strong second quarter to pull away, shooting 58 percent from the field and placing four players in double figures.
D&E continues play at the Tampa Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday, Nov. 29, facing Florida Tech.
