Box Score WHEELING, W.Va. — Sophia Brown continued her strong week with two goals Sunday, helping the Davis & Elkins College women's soccer team earn a 2-2 draw against Wheeling University at Bishop Schmitt Field in Mountain East Conference play.
Wheeling jumped ahead early with goals in the ninth and 11th minutes from Rosie Caley and Lily Hanna. Brown quickly answered less than two minutes later, finding the back of the net in the 13th minute to make it 2-1.
The Senators controlled much of the match, outshooting the Cardinals 19-6 and earning eight corner kicks. Brown netted the equalizer in the 71st minute, marking her second and third goals of the week and her third of the season.
Goalkeeper Gabriela Acevedo made one save for D&E, while Wheeling's Akyla Walcott and Deetya Satyal combined for eight saves.
The draw moves Davis & Elkins to 0-5-4 overall and 0-4-3 in MEC play, while Wheeling sits at 2-4-3 and 1-2-3 in the conference.
The Senators return home Wednesday, Oct. 8, to host Frostburg State at 7 p.m. at Nuttall Field.
