Box Score ATHENS, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins College women's soccer dropped a 3-1 decision to Concord University on Wednesday evening at Callaghan Stadium in Mountain East Conference play.
Concord (8-5-3, 7-3-3 MEC) jumped out to a quick lead with two first-half goals. Tiana Campbell opened the scoring in the ninth minute, converting off a feed from Sophia Chugha. The Mountain Lions added to their advantage five minutes later when Stephanie Tovar found the back of the net, assisted by Campbell.
The Senators (1-10-5, 1-9-4 MEC) cut into the deficit early in the second half. Defender Ava Sherman scored her first goal of the season in the 59th minute to make it 2-1. However, Concord sealed the match in the 85th minute when Daisy Cook scored off assists from Campbell and Caitlin Webster.
Gabriela Acevedo and Olivia Jones split time in goal for D&E, combining for three saves. The Senators recorded three total shots, including Sherman's lone shot on goal.
Davis & Elkins will return home Sunday, Nov. 2, to face the University of Charleston at 2 p.m. on Nuttall Field in its final regular-season contest.
