CALIFORNIA, Pa. — The Davis & Elkins College men's swimming team earned a decisive 182-29 win over West Virginia Wesleyan, while the women's team split results in a tri-meet Saturday at PennWest California. The Senators women topped WVWC 203-23 and tied host California 130-130.
Julianne Hobson led the way for the D&E women, winning the 200 freestyle (2:06.46) and 50 freestyle (25.81), and contributing to a first-place 200 freestyle relay alongside Daphne McCann, Lauren Lockwood, and Savannah Foley (1:43.35). Foley also claimed victory in the 100 freestyle (57.10) and took second in the 500 freestyle (5:52.42).
Other individual wins for the Senators women included Lockwood in the 200 butterfly (2:22.69) and Anikka Peterson in the 200 breaststroke (2:36.44).
On the men's side, D&E dominated the dual against Wesleyan from start to finish. Leonardo Vallerini and Jan Spehar each collected multiple victories — Vallerini in the 200 freestyle (1:48.75) and 500 freestyle (5:28.71), and Spehar in the 50 backstroke (25.19) and 100 freestyle (48.42).
Leonardo Oshiro and Charlie Whitsed swept the top two spots in both the 50 and 200 breaststroke, while Payton Williamson won the 200 backstroke (1:59.84) and 200 butterfly (2:06.81). The quartet of Schrieken, Vallerini, Spehar, and Williamson closed the meet with a victory in the 200 freestyle relay (1:31.07).
The Senators return home Friday, Oct. 31, to host Fairmont State in Mountain East Conference action. The meet is set for 6:00 p.m. at the George A. Myles Pool.
