Box Score WHEELING, W.Va. – Goals from Hugo Fauli and Chinedu Ikem lifted Davis & Elkins past Wheeling, 2-1, on Wednesday evening at Bishop Schmitt Field in Mountain East Conference play.
Wheeling struck first in the 13th minute when Alex Yesufu found the back of the net off assists from Pablo Prieto and Andoni Oynesa. The Senators answered in the 26th minute as Fauli evened the score, converting on a feed from Francisco Lopez Kreik for his third goal of the season.
Ikem broke the deadlock early in the second half, scoring the eventual game-winner in the 53rd minute for his fifth goal of the season to secure the road victory.
Goalkeeper Charlie Phillips finished with two saves in the win, while the Senators outshot Wheeling 14-3 and held a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal.
With the result, Davis & Elkins improves to 7-4-3 overall and 7-3-3 in MEC play. Wheeling drops to 1-12-1 on the season.
The Senators return home Sunday for Senior Day, hosting Concord at 2 p.m. at Nuttall Field.
