Box Score ELKINS, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins men's soccer team fell 2-0 to No. 3 Charleston on Sunday afternoon at Nuttall Field in front of a strong home crowd for the program's annual Code Red match.
After a scoreless first half, Charleston broke through in the 67th minute and added another in the 76th to secure the result.
Goalkeeper Charlie Phillips made two second-half saves for the Senators (6-4-3, 6-3-3 MEC), who put together a disciplined defensive performance against one of the nation's top-ranked teams. Hugo Fauli led D&E with two shots, while Joao Cavaletti and Francisco Lopez Kreik each added one.
The matchup featured strong defensive play on both sides and a physical tone throughout.
Davis & Elkins will be back in action Wednesday, Oct. 22, when the Senators travel to Wheeling University for a 4 p.m. Mountain East Conference matchup.
