ELKINS, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins men's swim team earned a home victory over Frostburg State on Saturday at the McDonnell Center pool, posting a 149–110 win. The D&E women turned in several standout individual performances but ultimately fell to the Bobcats, 164–93.
The Senators men opened the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay, as the quartet of Jan Spehar, Charlie Whitsed, Lasse Schrieken, and Leonardo Coelho stopped the clock at 1:37.00. Coelho followed with another win in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:34.99), and Payton Williamson continued the momentum with first-place finishes in both the 100 backstroke (53.69) and 200 backstroke (2:00.48).
D&E's depth showed in the breaststroke and individual medley events. Leonardo Oshiro led the way in the 100 breaststroke (59.01) and 200 breaststroke (2:11.62), while Schrieken claimed the 200 IM in 2:01.75. Spehar also picked up individual wins in the 200 freestyle (1:48.62) and 100 freestyle (48.01). The Senators capped the day with a close finish in the 200 freestyle relay, taking second at 1:29.51.
On the women's side, Lauren Lockwood, Anikka Peterson, Julianne Hobson, and Daphne McCann opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay (1:56.27). Peterson added a strong showing in the breaststroke events, winning the 100 (1:13.39) and 200 (2:40.00). Hobson took first in the 100 butterfly (1:02.25), and Lockwood placed third in the 200 backstroke (2:24.87). Savannah Foley placed second in the 50 freestyle, timing in at 25.96.
D&E returns to the pool on Saturday, Oct. 25, for a Double Dual Meet at California (Pa.) University, beginning at 1 p.m.
