WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision on the road Wednesday night against West Liberty in Mountain East Conference action.

After a scoreless first half, the Hilltoppers broke through in the 52nd minute when Perla Bäckberg scored off an assist from Marisa Knouff. The Senators pushed for an equalizer, recording eight total shots and four on target, but couldn't find the back of the net.

Goalkeeper Gabriela Acevedo recorded three saves in the match while facing four shots on goal. Addyson Cogar led the D&E attack with two shots on goal.

Davis & Elkins falls to 1-7-4 overall and 1-6-3 in MEC play.

The Senators return home Sunday at 5 p.m. to host Fairmont State at Nuttall Field for their annual Code Red game and Senior Day.
